Keyboard Replacement Guide for IBM/Lenovo ThinkPad R500 Notebook

This tutorial illustrates how to substitute the keyboard of the IBM/Lenovo R500 notebook.

The keyboard comes in a box which contains three short leaflets explaining how to replace the keyboard for the ThinkPad R60, T60 and Z60 series. But no such guide for the ThinkPad 500.

A view of the keyboard frontside.

A view of the keyboard backside.

Turn the notebook around and remove the battery from the backside. There are five screws only to open to get the keyboard replaced. No need to open the case completely. All these screws are marked with a small keyboard icon besides the scre hole.

The front cover has been opened. Now the keyboard can be taken out easily.

A close look onto the cable connector of the keyboard.
